Unassisted

Non-Assisted Flaring Equipment

utility

Zeeco's non-assisted flares and utility flares are used in applications that don't require smokeless operation, or where smokeless operation can be achieved without the assistance of external steam, air or pressure.

Utility flare tips are used for combustion of gases that do not produce smoke, gases with a low heating value, or for installations where smokeless combustion of heavy hydrocarbons is not required. Utility flare tips are one of the lower capital cost options for safe disposal of waste gases.

Zeeco’s UF style flare tip assembly utilizes a unique arrangement of proprietary flame stabilization tabs to ensure stable and high efficiency flaring through the entire design range of flows, from maximum emergency flaring to purge gas flow rates. The flame stabilization tabs work in conjunction with constantly burning pilot assemblies to ensure ignition of the waste gas. The flame stabilization tabs create a low pressure zone at the perimeter of the flare tip gas exit point, providing an area of slow moving gases that can be easily ignited by the pilot assembly. Zeeco flame stabilization tabs are unique, fully investment cast assemblies, mounted to the flare barrel using plug welds, to avoid stress risers and to eliminate cracking associated with linear welding in high heat zones.

Zeeco offers complete skid-mounted and trailer-mounted flare assemblies, as well as aftermarket products, services and engineered solutions.

Gas - Low-BTU

low-btu

Certain gases that need to be burned in a flare system have very low heating values. Burning these gases with high destruction efficiency requires a special flare tip design that EPA testing and guidelines require to have a low exit velocity and a stable/reliable source of ignition. These flares are typically used for ammonia, hydrogen sulfide/acid gas streams, venting from CO2 floods, and any other situation where a high amount of inert gases are combined with combustible hydrocarbons. Zeeco Low BTU Gas Flares are designed with multiple features to ensure ignition of these low heating value gases.

Low BTU Gas Advantages

  • Zeeco’s special low BTU gas flare system is equipped with extra pilot assemblies for ignition, a specially designed full perimeter flame retention ring assembly, an extended windshield, and (for certain cases) an ignition ring assembly.
  • The extended-height windshield allows the flare gases to premix with air in the same zone where the pilot flames are located, ensuring reliable and efficient ignition and protection against the wind shearing the flame off the flare tip prior to the gases igniting.

Liquid

Some processing applications must dispose of off-specification, excess, or production liquids. Liquid Flares are a safe and effective method for disposing of this waste.

Applications

Liquid Flare systems operate to dispose of wastes from the following applications:

  • Production well testing
  • LNG plants
  • Flare system knockout drums
  • Lubricating fluids
  • Pipelines
  • Other applications

Flare Types

Zeeco designs liquid flares for both smokeless and non-smokeless waste fluid combustion. Smokeless flares require specialty systems designed to use either an outside source or utility to achieve smokeless burning (such as steam, air, gases, or water). The smokeless system may also utilize high pressure in the incoming fluid stream to atomize the wastes and promote smokeless combustion. Zeeco’s staff members have extensive experience in design, fabrication, and operation of Liquid Flare systems. Put our experience to work for you!

Burn-pit

Burn-Pits are used in the disposal of gas and liquids, or just liquids. Burn-Pits are typically a non-smokeless system.

Burn-Pit

vent

Vent Systems dispose of gases that are not burned in a flare or incinerator. Vent Systems disperse these gases into the atmosphere to ensure the gas concentrations are below combustible or toxic levels.

Applications

  • Offshore platforms
  • LNG terminals
  • Hydrogen plants
  • Small gas plants

A vent is commonly used for:

  • Gases that are lighter than air
  • Gases that will not combust
  • Infrequent relief sources

Put Zeeco’s Experience to Work for You

Designing Vent Systems requires software and expertise in dispersion and concentration analysis. Zeeco’s staff members have extensive experience in design, fabrication, and operation of Vent Systems. Our Vent Systems include technology that reduces static electricity, which gas with high exit velocities can produce. Our vents also reduce air ingress into the system, and are constructed of flame-resistant materials in case vented gasses should ignite. Zeeco can also supply vent snuffing systems for extinguishing vents that happen to ignite. Put our Vent System experience to work for you!

MARKETS WE SERVE
