There are many similarities between thermal oxidisers and fired heaters. A thermal oxidizer and a fired heater both include one or more burners, an insulated refractory-lined combustion chamber, and a fuel measurement and control system. Both can be designed to operate under either forced draft or natural draft conditions. However, the similarities between them quickly begin to diverge upon a detailed examination of their design and intended function.
